The Vocaal Ensemble Rijssen (= VER) was founded in 1999 by Albert Last. His ambition, to found a choir for older young people, resulted in the start of Vocaal Jongeren Ensemble. Over the years, this has grown into the current, interdenominational chamber choir Vocaal Ensemble Rijssen with a permanent composition, which constantly continues to work on quality.
Jan-Geert Heuvelman has been the conductor of the Vocaal Ensemble Rijssen since January 2007. Under his professional and passionate leadership, the classical repertoire is studied intensively every week. An important part of the rehearsal consists of bringing together home-studied sounds into one whole, where the connection between content and music is central. They strive for a high level with a close-knit group of motivated singers. This makes it possible to present beautiful programs in an accessible way in a way that does justice to the music.
The Vocaal Ensemble Rijssen wants to bring the content of the music closer to the listener. During concerts, an explanation of the music is often given, making it accessible to every visitor. The choir performs its work both a capella and with the accompaniment of professional musicians.
Musical highlights from VER's existence include:
The anniversary concert with the theme 'Nun danket alle Gott' on October 5, 2019.
The annual Festivals of Lessons and Carols.
The theme 'Trauer-und Trostmusik in der Barockzeit'.
Every year, Vocaal Ensemble Rijssen gives several concerts. A number of these concerts take place in collaboration with other choirs. In October they give a thematic concert, where we will be accompanied by a larger orchestra and the explanation will be provided by a musicologist. This gives these concerts an extra dimension. The Festival of Lessons and Carols is traditionally performed before Christmas. This celebration focuses on Bible readings, which are framed by matching Christmas carols. |
