The American baritone, Michael Richardson, obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Vocal Performance from Buena Vista University (2018); his Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at James Madison University under the vocal coaching of Kevin McMillan (2020). In summer 2019, he had the privilege of being selected to be a participant in the Nightingale Opera Program as a Young Artist. He also was selected to compete at the national level of NATS, where he tied for first place in his category. In March 2021, he gave his Doctoral Recital at James Madison University/
Michael Richardson has had the opportunity to play various roles in both Opera and Musical Theater mediums throughout his college career. The Opera roles include - from most recent - Police Sergeant in Pirates of Penzance; George Benton in Dead Man Walking; and Gianni Schicchi in Gianni Schicchi. In the world of Oratorio, he sang the role of Rafael in J. Haydn's Creation. Other performances include multiple scenes programs both at Buena Vista University and James Madison University. In 2017, he had the opportunity to sing at Carnegie Hall as a member of the Buena Vista University Choir. In 2019, he learned the role of Mephistopheles in Charles Gounod's Faust. He currently lives in Harrisonburg, Virginia. |
