Rudolf Reuter (Organ, Harpsichord)

Rudolf Reuter was a German organist, harpsichordist, teacher and musicologist. His whole life work was dedicated to the organ, the exploration of valuable historic organs in Westphalia and its care and restoration.. In addition, as a passionate harpsichordist, he had a collection of historical instruments of the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe in the Erbdrostenhof (Münster/Westphalia), including in particular the preservation of the precious Ruckers harpsichord (1640).

In 1966 Rudolf Reuter established the Organ Research Center at the University of Münster. Among his students were Gregor Hollmann, Wolf Kalipp, Franz Josef Ratte, Stefan Reuter, Winfried Schlepphorst, Reinhard Skupnik, Hans Hermann Wickel, and Ulrich Wulfhorst. Reuter died suddenly on January 13, 1983 at the age of 62.
