The American soprano, Georgine Resick, received her Artist's Diploma from Peabody Conservatory in 1975, and Bachelor of Music from American University. She received two consecutive Young Artist awards from the National Institute for Music Theatre, grants from the Martha Baird Rockefeller Foundation and the Theodore presser Foundation, as well as the Outstanding Development prize from the State of North Rhine/Westphalia.
Georgine Resick's appearances on international stages have been met with public and critical acclaim, as well as the respect of her colleagues, who have re-engaged her season after season at the world's most important opera houses, established orchestras and prestigious festivals. Particularly renowned for her Mozart and Strauss interpretations, her wide ranging repertoire has been heard at the world's great theaters, among them the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, Cologne Opera, Paris Opera, Vienna State Opera, Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, the Washington Opera, and Hamburg State Theater, as well as at the Salzburg, Edinburgh, Drottningholm, and Lucerne Strings in the Mountains Festivals.
A concert artist in great demand, Georgine Resick has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, Rome's Accademia di Santa Cecilia Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra (Washington D.C.), San Diego Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, and Gulbenkian Orchestra.
Georgine Resick has been on the faculty of the University of Notre Dame since 1990, and currently holds a position of Asssociate Professor on the voice faculty. At the University she is also the founder and music director of con tempo, a chamber ensemble dedicated to highlighting recent works by American composers. Current projects include recording songs of Myaskowsky and Charles Gounod, as well as an ongoing survey of American art songs.
Recordings have been issued by London, Deutsche Grammophon, Capriccio, and Wergo, and videos through Home Vision and Polygram. Two new song recital recordings are being released on the d'Note label. She has been on the faculty of the University of Notre Dame since 1990. |
