The Brazilian harpsichordist and conductor, Roberto de Regina, is esponsible for building the first Brazilian harpsichord and recording the first two harpsichord and early music records in the country, in addition to the first early music group. Togeter with the harpsichordist Ingrid Müller Seraphim, he founded in 1974 Camerata Antiqua de Curitiba, made up of Choir and Orchestra. Today he is its its emeritus conductor. The initial proposal for the exclusive performance of Baroque and Renaissance music has been enriched with the addition of a repertoire of contemporary national and foreign composers.
Although he is widely recognized as one of the greatest harpsichordists in Brazil, with 26 albums and 5 DVDs recorded, Roberto de Regina also has other less publicized facets: he is an anesthesiologist - a profession he exercised for years, alongside music - and an excellent craftsman.
His collection of miniatures, collected since childhood, are displayed in a museum open to the public, for scheduled visits. Called the Museu Ronaldo J. Ribeiro, it is located in his own residence, a site in Guaratiba, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The name is a tribute to the site's administrator. Most of the miniatures are made by the musician himself. Collection highlights: a mockup of a fictional European city, with theatres, cinemas, churches and trams; vintage automobiles and airplanes (including the 14 Bis by Santos Dumont and the Kitty Hawk by the Wright Brothers); vessels such as the Barca do Sol (used in the funeral of Pharaoh Quéops, in 4500 BC) and the fleet of Pedro Álvares Cabral; cathedrals and castles, such as the Krak des Chevaliers, located in Syria. |
