The German conductor, Karl Rathgeber, studied at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt/M. After the exams in school music, church music and conducting, with Helmuth Rilling, Jiri Starek and other, followed master-classes with Martin Behrmann and Eric Ericson.
Karl Rathgeber stations led him after three-years as Dekanatskirchenmusiker in Frankfurt/M., to Lüneburg as Musikschulleite, to Bremen as lecturer at the Hochschule für Künste, and to Tübingen as a Stiftsmusikdirektor. In 1994 he became director at the Fachakademie für Evangelische Kirchenmusik in Bayreuth. In August 2000 he was appointed as Professor for conducting, again at the Hochschule für Evangelische Kirchenmusik.
Karl Rathgeber took part in the development of the Hochschule as an established rector and leads it now as a selected rector. Besides, since 1999 he is artistic director of the Regerchor Braunschweig, and belongs to the lecturer team and the adviser of the Internationalen Arbeitskreis für Musik (Kassel). |
