Randolph College Chamber Orchestra provides a rare opportunity for students to gain valuable experience performing side by side with local professional musicians, who supplement the sections in positions not taken by students. Larger works performed by the ensemble include J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 4, and W.A. Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante; with choir, W.A. Mozart's Requiem and Solemn Vespers of the Confessor, and Charpentier's Messe de Minuit pour Noël. Performances include a fall concert of the orchestra alone, Christmas Vespers with the Randolph College Chorale in December, and a combined Spring Concert in April.
As part of their program supporting new music, in April 2014 the Randolph-College Chorale and Chamber Orchestra performed the world premiere of a work written for the ensembles by composer Randall Davidson. |
