Randolph College Chorale (Choir)

Founded: Somerville, Massachusetts, USA

Randolph College Chorale is Randolph College’s largest music performing ensemble. Chorale prepares four separate programs each academic year: a Fall Concert or showcase program, a Christmas Vespers service, a tour program (usually taken during Spring Break) or Winter Showcase, and a Spring Concert.

The choir frequently collaborates with professional and student instrumentalists and soloists, usually performing at least one extended work each year. In December 2013, the Chorale performed Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria with orchestra. Chorale has toured to Washington D.C., Atlanta, Pennsylvania, Chicago, California, Jamaica, and most recently, Greece.

The choir has performed in Carnegie Hall, Washington National Cathedral, National Presbyterian Church, University of West Indies Chapel, and is one of very few choirs to be invited to sing in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

In 2004, Chorale initiated its new music program, in which the ensemble commissions and performs choral works written especially for the group. To date, Chorale has performed seven such premieres, with the composers in residence for six of them.
