The Catalan choral conductor and pianist, Gerard Ramos Pardo, first trained as a pianist, at the Conservatorio de Tarragona. There he began to sing in a choir and study singing. He graduated in choral conducting at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya and obtained his Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber. Over time, he became a regular pianist, a figure who plays a central role in this field precisely in Germany. "Because of the way in which direction is understood in Germany, both choir and orchestra, the figure of the repeater at the piano is closely linked to the figure of the director, so that any director has to be a repeater pianist, basically of vocal repertoire and opera".
Gerard Ramos Pardo settled in Chile in September 2019, when he took over as choir director of the Teatro del Lago. He later assumed the direction of the vocal area of the Escuela de las Artes in the Strawberry space, and there he worked on the program "Puedes Cantar" (You Can Sing) and also in singing and music initiation classes. In August 2022, he moved to Santiago and started working at the Instituto de Música UC. Gerard Ramos Pardo is currently principal director of the Coro de Cámara UC and professor of Choral Conducting at the Instituto de Música UC. |
