Royal Baroque Ensemble (= RBE) - a Polish instrumental ensemble specializing in the performance of Baroque music, with particular emphasis on vocal-instrumental and operatic works. The ensemble consists of outstanding and experienced musicians who play on copies of Baroque instruments, who are also members of many other Polish and foreign historical performance ensembles. From the beginning, RBE-PL has been working under the direction of Lilianna Stawarz, an outstanding harpsichordist and teacher.
The RBE inaugurated its activity with the premiere of the opera Agrippina by George Frideric Handel at the Teatrze Królewskim (Royal Theater) in the Łazienkach Królewskich (Royal Łazienki) (2014). In the following years, during the Festival of Baroque Operas, the RBE Baroque Orchestra took part in the premieres of great opera works: Orlando (2015) and Alcina (2018) by G.F. Handel, L. Vinci's Semiramide riconosciuta (2016, art direction: Marco Vitale), Antonio Vivaldi's Farnace (2017), as well as the Teatro alla Moda pasticcio composed of excerpts from A. Vivaldi's operas (based on a satirical text by Benedetto Marcello, 2013/2015) and the choreo-opera Sognando la morte (2016).
In an intimate line-up, the RBE has prepared a number of recitals and solo concerts, co-operating with, among others, with Olga Pasiecznik, Anna Radziejewska, Iwona Lubowicz, Kacper Szelążek, Artur Janda, Dorota Szczepańska, Tomasz Pokrzywiński, Marcin Świątkiewicz, Karolina Zych, Zbigniew Pilch, Grzegorz Lalek.
The RBE also performed sacred works, e.g. J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion BWV 245 (2015, conducted by Andrzej Borzym), Jan Dismas Zelenka's Missa Votiva (2017, conducted by Andrzej Borzym), Missa Requiem by D. Stachowicz (2018, conducted by Berenika Jozajtis), collaborating with the Chór Kameralny Collegium Musicum Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego.
The RBE is invited to participate in the most important music festivals in Poland: Actus Humanus (2020 - complete set of 12 concerti grossi by F. Geminiani based on Arcangelo Corelli; invitation to 2021), Kolory Polski (2021), Muzyczny Festiwal in Łańcut (2020), Kromer Biecz Festival (2018), Barok na Mazurach (2017). The RBE collaborated with the Zamkiem Królewskim (Royal Castle) in Warsaw on the occasion of the “Antonio Vivaldi” Baroque Music Festival (2021) and the Roku Wazowskiego (Year of Vasa) (2019). Also in the Royal Castle, commissioned by the Institute of Musicology of the University of Warsaw, he performed forgotten concerts of Polish Classicism under the direction of Marek Toporowski (2016). In Katowice NOSPR presented the program Vivaldi's Venice with Kacper Szelążek (2018). Invited to Lithuania to participate in the Banchetto Musicale festival in Vilnius, he presented a program of cantatas and sonatas by E. Jacquet de la Guerre (2019).
