The Argentinean mezzo-soprano, Helene Alejandra Urigu Quintana, began her musical studies at a very early age. She is a graduate of the National Conservatory of Music of Buenos Aires with an Master of Arts degree in Piano Performance and Master of Arts degree with honors in Harpsichord Performance (1988). She has dedicated over thirty years to studying the art of classical singing. She obtained her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Claremont Graduate University (1984).
Helene Urigu Quintana has been an independent professional mezzo-soprano since 1988. She has soloed several times with the Los Angeles Master Chorale under the baton of maestros Paul Salamunovich and Grant Gershon (1993-2014). Most recently she sang George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Whitacre’s Cloudburst, J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) and Magnificat (BWV 243).
In the opera field Helene Urigu Quintana has sung the role of Ines in Il Trovatore at the National Opera Theatre, Georgia the role of Bridesmaid in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, for the Los Angeles Opera under Plácido Domingo the role of Second Taube in Die Vogel, Conlon conductor, a Lady in Nicholas and Alexandra, Mstislav Rostropovich conductor and the cover roles of Rosita and Mariana in the zarzuela Luisa Fernanda, Roa conductor. She has sunge with the Los Angeles Opera since 1996. She sang the Verdi's Requiem in May 2012 with the Loma Linda University Church and First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood, Ariel Quintana conducting.
Helene Urigu Quintana has been Cantor at Holy Family Catholic Church in Glendale (2011-April 2013); Choir Director of University Voices at Loma Linda University Church (since September 2012); Chancel Choir Director at Vallejo Drive Church (since December 2018).
Helene Urigu Quintana has an active private voice studio in Glendale, Califoania, where she resides with her husband and sixteen-year-old daughter. Since January 2020, she is Voice Professor at Claremont Graduate University. |
