Rita Preikšaitė (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Lithuania

The Lithuanian mezzo-soprano, Rita Preikšaitė, graduated from vocal studies at the Lithuanian State Conservatory in 1987.

Rita Preikšaitė has created roles in operas, operettas, musicals and actively participated in concerts. She is the soloist of Kaunas State Musical Theatre. She was awarded with the prize of Kaunas Art Creators’ Association and Fortune award of 2006 for the role of Carmen in Georges Bizet's opera Carmen (premiere: November 18, 2005; musical director and conductor: Gintaras Rinkevičius, director: Gintas Žilys; conductor: Julius Geniušas).. She has also sung to sing in Giacomo Puccini's Madam Butterflyand stated (in April 2006) that she has a number of other dreams as well - to sing Dalila in Camille Saint-Saëns' opera Samson and Dalila is one of such dreams. She created the role of the first lady personage of Mushroom Republic in the small opera Mushroom War and Peace by Zita Bružaitė. She has also performed in concerts and recitals.
