The Italian conductor and violinist, Massimo Pradella, studied piano with his mother and violin with his uncle, Giorgio Senigaglia. He graduated very young in piano (with Carlo Zecchi), in violin (with Principe) and in composition (with Petrassi) at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia di Roma.
At first a violinist and composer, he dedicated himself to conducting at the urging of Bruno Walter. From his debut in Rome in 1954 he began a concert activity that took him all over Europe, America and Asia. From 1959 to 1990 he was permanent conductor at RAI (Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI di Torino, Orchestra Alessandro Scarlatti di Napoli della RAI, Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma). He devoted himself in particular to the performance of 20th-century music. He collaborated with well-known soloists such as Salvatore Accardo, Claudio Arrau, Pierre Fournier, Emil Gilels, Mieczyslaw Horszowski, Wilhelm Kempff, Ralph Kirkpatrick, Leonid Kogan, Maurizio Pollini, Uto Ughi. |
