The Polish choral conductor and music pedagogue, Łukasz Popiałkiewicz, graduated with honors from his master's studies in choral conducting and church music at the Akademii Muzycznej w Bydgoszczy (Akademii Muzycznej w Poznaniu); post-graduate studies in choir directing at the Akademii Muzycznej w Bydgoszczy (Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz); and then obtained a doctoral degree in the artistic discipline of conducting at the Akademii Sztuki w Szczecinie (Academy of Arts in Szczecin). He also completed a course in vocal interpretation of works by J.S. Bach under the direction of Hartwig Eschenburg and the intensive course for choral conductors on the dramaturgical arc in works of early music under the direction of Frank Markowitsch.
In 2002, Łukasz Popiałkiewicz co-founded the Zespół Wokalny Agniculi (Agnicula Vocal Ensemble), of which he is the conductor, and the Stowarzyszenie Pro Musica Sacra (Pro Musica Sacra Association), of which he is the president of the board. He specializes through his artistic and organizational activity in the field of sacred music, especially early music. Since 2011, he has been teaching at the Faculty of Music Education of the Akademii Sztuki w Szczecinie, teaching mainly conducting and liturgical accompaniment on the organ. He serves as Assistant Professor at the Department of Choral Conducting of the Faculty of Music Education and head of the Department of Sacred Music. |
