The Mexican baritone, Izhar Abdi Poncelis Santana, debuted as a soloist in the Grand Season Concert of the Symphony Orchestra of the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo under the direction of the Mtro. Armando Vargas with W.A. Mozart's Requiem, in the Aula Magna "Alfonso Cravioto Mejorada". He won 1st place in the XXVI Francisco Araiza Singing Contest of the UNAM Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México School of Music. He obtained the Transfer Student Award + Tuition Waiver at the Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition with a letter of acceptance from University of Kentucky. In 2014, he joined the Fonca-Conaculta Fellow to the Vocal Scenic Ensemble of the National Musical Development System under the direction of Horacio Franco, with his last performance of J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), playing the role of Jesus, also the staging with Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's opera Mozart and Salieri playing the role of Salieri, Liebeslieder of Johannes Brahms and opera scenes Il Comendatore in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Mephistopheles in Charles Gounod's Faust. In 2017 he participated in the second season of the National Opera Company of Fine Arts with the Choir of the Theater of Fine Arts, with Otello, Die Fledermaus and Gala Morelli. He currently participates in the Choir of the Typical Orchestra of Mexico City and as vocal coach and conductor of the Choir of the New Mexican School SEP Nezahualcóyotl. |
