The German trumpeter and musical director, Joachim Pliquett, graduated from high-school, and studied privately with Reinhold Lösch in Mannheim. He was national prize winner of the 1975 ‘Jugend musiziert’ competition.
Since 1982 Joachim Pliquett has been trumpet soloist with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra under Riccardo Chailly and Vladimir Ashkenazy. In addition, he has had engagements nationally and internationally as soloist, particularly also as interpreter of J.S. Bach's cantatas and oratorios. Since 1979, he has co-operated constantly with Arvid Gast in the field of trumpet and organ, through which a multitude of radio and television productions and disc recordings have originated. In this context, several first recordings and premieres deserve special mention. In 1995 Joachim Pliquett founded The Deutsche Kammer-Virtuosen Berlin, consisting of soloists and members of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. |
