The German mezzo-soprano, Nina Nussbaum (born Ruhl), comes from southern Germany and received on 7 years of age a musical basic training in piano, flute and singing. After graduation she studied first philosophy and musicology at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität in Heidelberg. Parallel to this she obtained singing lessons with Gisela Rohmert in Lichtenberg. She is her student today. In 2002, she began her artistic singing studies (opera, oratorio and Lieder) at the Musikhochschule Trossingen with Professor Monika Moldenhauer. At the same time she began singing in public. Since 2004 she has been a student of Professor Barbara Schlick at the Musikhochschule Köln/Wuppertal. In February, she completed her art studies there with "Very Good", and passed the concert-exam. Nina Nussbaum is a scholarship holder of the Richard-Wagner Verbandes and is supported by Hartmut- und Lore- Schuler Stiftung.
For several years Nina Nussbaum has worked as a free concert singer, and sang and, among others, J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248), Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), B minor Mass (BWV 232); Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2, W.A. Mozart's C minor Mass, new music, and also the 2nd Lady in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, in a production of Christof Loy.
Her special love is Lieder singing. Since 2002 Nina Nussbaum performs regularly with her own Lieder recitals, such as with G. Mahler's Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Robert Schumann's Frauenliebe und Leben and Liederkreis Op. 39, with Lieder by Franz Schubert and especially with French repertoire (Gabriel Fauré, R. Hahn, H. Berlioz). She has participated in several radio programmes. She has worked with conductors such as Michael Gielen, P. Sloane and J. Darlington.
Nina Nussbaum is married and mother of two children. |
