The Egidienchor Nürnberg is a chamber choir consisting of about 30 singers, dedicated to works from different centuries. A special focus is on the literature of the Renaissance and the early and high Baroque. Especially the question of historical moods plays an important role in the elaboration of these epochs. Works from the Renaissance and the early Baroque are also use soloists. Another accent in choral work is the development of contemporary works that play an important role in both concerts and worship programs.
The performance of the Marienvesper in 2005 was celebrated by the Nuremberg press as "spectacular" and as the "highlight of the just started Nuremberg concert season", the performance of the Egidienchor in Schubert's E-flat Mass in 2006 was described as "breathtaking". In the scenic performance of George Frideric Handel's oratorio Saul in 2007, the choir received an "impressive performance" and named the "breathtaking sonority" of the choir at W.A. Mozart's C minor Mass 2008. With J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor (BWV 232) in 2009, the solo skills of Egidien choral singers became the highlight. On G.F. Handel's Israel in Egypt in 2010, the press wrote: "To everyone's respect, as the Kammerchor St. Egidien, placed on either side of the church complex, mastered this emotionally charged imagery and explosive declamation , The accurately rehearsed choir was in no way inferior to the orchestra in terms of clean intonation, freshness and always slim balance. on the performance of the Johannes Brahms's Requiem with dance, The NZ critic commented: "Thanks to the sensitivity of the brilliantly prepared Egidienchor and the radiant power of the soloists The Egidien project left a very positive impression."
Concert tours have led the choir to Graz, Nottingham and Glasgow. In April 2012, the Egidienchor was invited as the first German choir to the Easter Festival in Moscow. The Egidienchor is directed by the Egidier church musician Pia Praetorius. |
