The Portuguese mezzo-soprano, choral conductor and music teacher, Maria de Fátima Nunes, studied music at the Instituto Gregoriano in Lisbon (Class of 2010), has a degree in Clinical Physiology (Escola Superior de Tecnologias da Saúde in Lisbon: 2010) and a Master degree in Choral Conducting - education and performance, under the guidance of Paulo Lourenço (Escola Superior de Música in Lisbon: August 2010-2012).
Maria de Fátima Nunes works regularly as a conductor and mezzo-soprano in some national and international projects and also as a choir teacher at the Escola de Música de Nossa Senhora do Cabo (since September 2018) and Instituto Gregoriano in Lisbon. She was also Professor at Academia de Amadores de Música (August 2011-2019).
In the singing area, Maria de Fátima Nunes had the opportunity to work with Armando Possante and Manuela de Sá. As a soloist, she performed some concerts in repertoire from different eras and styles. She has worked with Michel Corboz, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Patrice Chéreau, John Nelson, Leonardo García-Alarcón, among many others. She was part of the Tenso Europe Chamber Choir 2015 (Director: Kaspars Putnins) and participated in several renowned festivals in Europe, integrating several groups, such as the Festival de Ambronay (France), Festival d’ Aix en Provence, Oude Muziek (the Netherlands). She is assistant conductor of the Coro Participativo do Summer Choral Festival of Lisbon (since 2017) and of the Coro Participativo da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (2017 and 2018). She is part of the Ensemble São Tomás de Aquino as a member and assistant conductor. As an ensemble singer, she works regularly with the Choeur de Chambre de Namur (since 2014; Director: Jean Tubéry), Officium Ensemble and Coro Gulbenkian (since December 2008), in the latter she is also assistant to the artistic direction. |
