The American conductor and teacher, David H. Nott, taught voice and was and former director of choral activities at Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) for 31 years, bringing recognition to an already distinguished choral program. He led the Collegiate Choir on an annual spring break tour, which took the group to all corners of the USA and produced critically acclaimed recordings.
David Bott was married with Mary Monroe of Yonkers and Point O'Woods, Fire Island, an organist at Grace Church in Brooklyn Heights. Among his most distinguished students are world-renowned opera singers - bass-baritone Roger Roloff and soprano Dawn Upshaw, a two time Grammy Award-winner who is also married to Michael D. Nott, David Nott's oldest son. David Nott died in December 2004, at age 70. His death resulted from complications ensuing from surgery in July 2004 for cancer of the bile duct. |
