Tobias Nicolaus (Organ, Choral Conductor)

Born: 1966 - Meißen, Saxony, Germany

The German organist, choral conductor and church musician, Tobias Nicolaus, grew up in a Protestant parsonage. At the age of 12 he became an organist in his home parish, studied church music in Dresden and Halle (organ: Siegfried Pritsche, Gundel Zieschang).

Tobias Nicolaus and has been Kantor in Grimma since 1992. He regularly performs oratorios and initiated the Grimma cantata services, in which J.S. Bach's cantatas are performed. He appears regularly as an organist and conductor. The focus of his organ repertoire is on the music of the late Romantic period. For several years he taught liturgical organ playing and improvisation at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Dresden. He is the director of the Motettenchor Leipzig.
