The German tenor, Benedikt Nawrath, gathered his first musical experience as a cellist in the Joseph-Martin-Kraus Quartett and with the Kurpfalzorchester. After graduation he began in 2001 singing lessons with Doris Döllinger. Since October 2002, he is student at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg. Initially, he dedicated himself to the teaching profession, but moved after a year as a visiting student in the Opera School in 2004, to singing studies with Professor Endrik Wottrich. During his studies he sang various roles at the opera school, including the title role in Xerxes by George Frideric Handel, under the musical direction of Professor Jörg Straube. Subsequently he received the Richard Wagner scholarship.
In June 2007 Benedikt Nawrath sang in a concert performance, conducted by Wolfgang Kurz, the role of Tamino in Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart. He sang the same role in January 2009 in his debut at the Theater Erfurt. He is also engaged at the Kammeroper München and Pocket Opera Nürnberg, with works by Cimarosa and Mouret.
Benedikt Nawrath has a broad repertoire in the concert area, ranging from J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) on L.v. Beethoven's 9th Symphony to contemporary music. At the Internationalen Bachwoche Stuttgart 2006, he completed the masters-class with Scot Weir and sang in the following lecture concerts under the baton of Helmuth Rilling, Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) by J.S. Bach. Concerts with the Vogtlandphilharmonie and the Konzerthaus Berlin round of his activity as a soloist. |
