Sacha Natala (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: July 22, 1974 - Paris, France

The French mezzo-soiprano of Slovak origin, Sacha Hatala, is pianist by training. She began singing at the Music Academy in Bratislava in Slovakia. In 1997 she entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris in the class of Robert Dumé and obtained her Diploma of Higher Education in 2001. She had further training with Michel Laplénie, Howard Crook and Kenneth Weiss at the Department of Early Music of the Conservatoire National de Region de Paris, where she won first prize unanimously.

Sacha Hatala has worked for several years with Professor Christane Patard. She performs regularly in recitals and participates in Baroque oratorios, especially with Gabriel Garrido at Festival d’Ambronay in Monteverdi's Vespers and in numerous Italian Baroque Festival Beaune, the Arsenal of Metz, at the Radio France and the Théâtre de Vigo in Spain.

Sacha Hatala made her debut in opera with the roles of Florence Pike (Albert Herring) at the Opéra de Rennes, Maddalena (Rigoletto) at the Opéra National d’Alger and the National Opera in Bratislava and Amneris (Aida) in Radio France. In February 2004, she sang at the Opéra National de Paris with Les Arts Florissants in madrigals of Monteverdi and Gesualdo for th ballet Doux Mensonges by Jiri Kylian. She sang Judith in Histoires Sacrées by Charpentier at the Festival du Périgord Noir and performed the role of Medea in a co-production of the CNR of Paris and the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles. In 2005, she sang the St. John Passion by J.S. Bach in Lausanne alongside Howard Crook and performed Leçons de Ténèbres by Nicola Porpora with Les Paladins, under the baton of Jérôme Correas. She was Teotimo in I pellegrini al sepolcro di nostro signor by Hasse under the baton of Gérard Lesne at the Festival de la Chaise Dieu in August 2005, at the Abbaye de Royaumont and in Clermont-Ferrand. She sang the role of Baucis (Philemon and Baucis by Haydn) in a production of the Opéra National de Lyon on tour with Les Musiciens du Louvre conducted by Jeremiah Rohrer during the 2005-2006 season. She also sang under the baton of Martin Gester, and appeared in April 2006 at the Auditorium of the Opera Bastille in Das Theater der Wiederholungen by Bernhard Lang with the Jeunes Solistes and the Klangforum Wien conducted by Johannes Kalitzke. During the summer of 2006, she sang with the ensemble A Sei Voci the Responsi by Perti and with Les Arts Florissants the 6th Book of Madrigals of Monteverdi edited by Paul Agnew. This year (2007), with Le Parlement de Musique conducted by Martin Gester, she sang the Stabat Mater of Antonio Vivaldi.

Sacha Hatala recorded for France Musiques a program of Italian songs of the 19th century (Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Rossini) with the pianist Antoine Palloc. She has sung with Les Palaldins under the direction of Jerome Correas in A. Vivaldi's Gloria and Nisi Dominus by Francesco Durante at the Festival de la Chaise Dieu, with Marco Horvat and the Ensemble Faenza in a repertoire of court songs. She performed the role of Baucis by Haydn with the orchestra of Les Musiciens du Louvre conducted by Mirella Giardelli and Jérémie Rohrer. She will be Madame Yvonne, the owner of a brothel, in Un tango pour Mr Lautrec by Jorge Zulueta, directed by Bianca Li
