The American soprano Lauren Nash Silberstein, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Opera from Binghamton University in New York. She obtained her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Literature from Eastman School of Music, at The University of Rochester. She has a strong love for Polish art song, having done her Master's degree thesis on interpretation of Stanisław Moniuszko's works. Performances at Eastman include the academic premiere as Soprano 1 in Ricky Ian Gordon’s The Tibetan Book of the Dead and Franca Naccarelli in The Light in the Piazza. Both roles were coached with their respective composers. Her Awards include organizations such as: The American International Czech and Slovak Competition, Harold Haugh Light Opera Competition, The Opera Connecticut Competition, and NATS Eastern Region.
Lauren Nash Silberstein has been praised as “splendid,” “full of life,” and “[emanating] natural charm” (Broadway World) and for being “winsome and fiery” on stage with a “powerful, deliriously gorgeous voice" (Nippertown Magazine). “Her clear voice leaps easily up to those high notes...[and she] was great fun to watch” (KDHX.org). Recently she was an Artist-In-Residence with Dayton Opera singing Chan Parker in Charlie Parker’s Yardbird (2022) and Soprano Soloist for singing Chan Parker in Charlie Parker’s Yardbird (October 2022) and Soprano Soloist for George Frideric Handel Messiah with Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra (December 2022). With Winter Opera St. Louis, she debuted as Lisette in La rondine being praised by Broadway World as "an utter delight--fresh, quick, smart, and quite delicious." In 2023 she sang the role of Margot Bonvalet with WOSL. When with The Ohio Light Opera as a summer Resident Artist she sang Kathie in The Student Prince, Selma in Lehar’s The Mock Marriage, and The Fairy Godmother in Cinderella. With Winter Opera St. Louis for their 2022 season, she performed in The Gondoliers and "sang beautifully (and)...special credit for vocals must be given to [her] as Queen-to-be Gianetta (St. Louis Today)."
Lauren Nash Silberstein sang in Opera Connecticut's "Opera in the Garden" summer concert in 2021. She was the 2021 Annual Donor Recitalist for The Rochester Opera Guild. She was seen as a Young Artist with The Ohio Light Opera in 2019 and 2020. At OLO she portrayed roles in Perchance to Dream, South Pacific, and Into the Woods in 2019 and Julie Jordan in Carousel in OLO’S 2020 Virtual season. She portrayed The Dew Fairy in Tri-Cities Opera’s production of Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel and ensemble of Sweeney Todd and La Traviata at TCO. She portrayed Yum-Yum in Binghamton University’s production of The Mikado. With Opera Saratoga, she played second spirit in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and ensemble for The Mighty Casey and HMS Pinafore. During coronavirus quarantine months, with the troupe Where the Good Songs Go, she virtually made the first recordings of four forgotten early musicals. She has been the Soprano Soloist with orchestra for G.F. Handel's Messiah (2019, 2022), Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah, Martines’ Dixit Dominus, W.A. Mozart’s Missa Brevis, numerous J.S. Bach cantatas, and both Gabriel Fauré and John Rutter Requiems. |
