Rachel Nahmias (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: 1935 - Israel
Died: April 1997 - Israel

The Israeli mezzo-soprano, Rachel Nahmias, studied at the Academy of Music. Her voice teachers were Rosenshein, Magda Picrolo (Italy), Rose Dampf, Miriam Gross-Levin and Friedl Teller-Blum.

For 25 years (1962-1987) she was a member of the Rinat Choir. She also sang with the Israeli Chamber Ensemble under the direction of Gary Bertini, and participated in concerts with the Rashut Hashidur (Israeli Broadcast) Orchestra and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1969 she appeared as a soloist at the Original Abu-Gosh Music Festival.

From 1988 Rachel Nahmias was a member of the New Israeli Opera Choir. In summer 1998 she participated in the Opera Workshop, where her teachers were John Kaplan and Barbara Hahn.
