The New Israeli Vocal Ensemble (= NIVE) was founded in 1993 by its Music Director Yuval Ben-Ozer and in a short period established itself as the leading choral group in Israel. The Ensemble comprises professional singers and has appeared in the most prestigious concert halls and festivals in Israel, Europe and the Far East, winning the acclaim of audiences, critics and professional musicians alike. It frequently joins forces with other music groups in a broad repertoire ranging from medieval to modern, avant-guard music and records sound tracks for films.
The Ensemble frequently appears with Israel's leading orchestras like the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israel Camerata Orchestra Jerusalem in the performance of oratorios and operas and has worked with the top-flight choir conductors in the world like Frieder Bernius, Paul Hillier, John Poole, Andrew Parrott, Hermann Max and others.
The NIVE has performed three premiers at the Israel Festival in Jerusalem and won first prizes at international competitions for choirs in Malta (1998), in Tolosa, Spain (2000) and in Belgium (2001). It has also participated in festivals in Germany, France and Luxemburg, Korea, Sardinia, Normandy and Ljubljana.
