The Czech guitarist, Martin Mysliveček, studied guitar at the Conservatory of Music in Brno with A. Sádlik, and at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar, where he attend the class of Roland Zimmer. In three successive years (1975-1977), still during his time of studying, he achieved success at the international guitar competitions: in Markneukirchen, the GDR (1st Prize), in Paris, and in A Diaz Competition in Caracas, Venezuela (2nd Prizes). He received scholarship from the Music Studio.
Martin Mysliveček's concert career took him to most European countries (former socialist countries, Austria, Greece, France, West Germany) and to North- and South-America (Venezuela), and others. At his concerts he brings out the unknown works of the past (Dowland, etc.), as well as the first performance of original novelties (Eben: Tabulatura nova, Fiala: The Epigrams). During his half-year educational stay in London, he studied the Elizabethian lute literature. In his rich concert activity he performs both as a soloist and as a chamber player.
Together with the accordionist Ivan Koval (Professor at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar) Martin Mysliveček founded a trio with violin, accordion and guitar. Many compositions by well know composers (e.g. Katzer, Wolschina, Fiala, Dvoracek) where especially written for and performed by the trio.
Martin Mysliveček recorded several productions for both television- and radio-broadcast, manly in the Czech Republic. His LP/CD-Repertoire was produced by different labels, such as Supraphon, Panton, Hohner, Pehy, Bonton and Studio Principium, preferably presenting contemporary music. By 1982 he has produced a record of contemporary pieces (on Panton label).
Today Martin Mysliveček is Professor for guitar at the University of Music and the performing Arts in Graz. Since 2004 he also has a guitar class at the Academy of Music Leoš Janáček in Brno. Since its foundation in 1997, he is head of the International Guitar Festival in Mikulov / Czech Republic.
