The German baritone, Marian Leonid Müller, discovered his love for singing and classical music in the Göttinger Knabenchor. After graduating from high school, he studied at Studied at Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover (Class of 2012) with Marina Sandel; and at Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main (2010-2014) with Berthold Possemeyer and Hedwig Fassbender. In master-classes he received important musical suggestions from Peter Schreier, Brigitte Fassbaender, Helmut Deutsch, Håkan Hagegård, Donald George and Jan Philip Schulze. During his studies he sang in university productions such rtoles as Sid in Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring, Marco in Gianni Schicchi and Dandini in La Cenerentola at the Burgfestspielen Bad Vilbel. In 2008 he won the Schrader Prize from the Musikhochschule Hannover, and in 2010 and 2011 he received scholarships from the Region Hannover and the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Stiftung. In 2012 he was a finalist in the Wettbewerb Franz Schubert and Musik der Moderne in Graz in Graz and in 2014 he was a finalist at the Mendelssohn Bartholdy Hochschulwettbewerb in Berlin.
In the 2014-2015 season, Marian Müller made her debut as Guglielmo in W.A. Mozart's Cosi fan tutte at the Schleswig-Holsteinischen Landestheater and has been a permanent member of the ensemble ever since. There he embodied, among others, Count Almaviva in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Lescaut in Manon Lescaut, Silvio in Pagliacci, Morales in Georges Bizet's Carmen and Lord Guglielmo Cecil in Maria Stuarda. In August 2017 he sang Morales and Dancairo at the jOPERA Festivalsommer in Jennersdorf, in 2018 he made a guest appearance as Falke in Die Fledermaus at the Theater Bremen. In the 2019-2020 season he performed the title role in W.A. Mozart's Don Givoanni in Flensburg.
From 2015 to 2020 Marian Müller was part of the ensemble of the Schleswig-Holsteinischen Landestheater in Flensburg. There he was heard in many major roles in the lyrical baritone repertoire, such as Don Giovanni in W.A. Mozart's opera of the same name, Guglielmo in W.A. Mozart;s Cosi fan tutte, Count Almaviva in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Lescaut in Manon Lescaut, Silvio in Pagliacci, Morales in G. Bizet's Carmen and Lord Guglielmo Cecil in Maria Stuarda. In August 2017 he sang Morales and Dancairo at the jOPERA Festivalsommer in Jennersdorf, in 2018 he made a guest appearance as Falke in Die Fledermaus at the Theater Bremen.
He has been a permanent member of the Theater Hof since 2020-2021 and in his first season he could be heard there as Fürst Ypsheim-Gindelbach in Wiener Blut and Arbace in W.A. Mozart's Idomeneo. In the 2021-2022 season he will be heard, among others, as Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor, as Dandini in La Cenerentola and as Fürst Ypsheim-Gindelbach in Wiener Blut.
As a concert singer, Marian Müller has a wide-ranging repertoire, ranging from Bach's cantatas, oratorios and passions to Brahm's Requiem and Orff's Carmina Burana. In various recitals he sang the great cycles such as Schubert's Winterreise and Die Schöne Müllerin as well as Schumann's Dichterliebe and the song cycle Op. 39 as well as songs by Johannes Brahms, Gabriel Fauré, Wolf, Strauss, Charles Ives, Rihm and Hanns Eisler. He currently lives in Hof, Germany. |
