The Irish tenor, Eamonn Mulhall, studied Music and French Literature in Dublin before continuing his studies at the Royal College of Music and the National Opera Studio in London.
Eamonn Mulhall's youthful presence and bright, agile voice place him ideally for W.A. Mozart, George Frideric Handel, Donizetti and Rossini lyric tenor roles. He is also a highly accomplished Baroque and classical oratorio soloist. His operatic engagements include Prince Safir in Offenbach’s Barbe bleu (Grange Park), staged Messiah and After Dido (English National Opera), Jacquino in L.v. Beethoven's Fidelio and Soldier in Ullmann’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis (Opera Theatre Company) as well as Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte and Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni (co-productions Opera Ireland / DIT College of Music), Massimo in Ezio (London Händel Festival), Aumônier in Francis Poulenc's Les Dialogues des carmélites (RCM) and understudying Bajazat in G.F. Handel’s Tamerlano (Scottish Opera), Count Almaviva in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia (ENO) and Belmonte in W.A. Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Welsh National Opera).
In May 2011 Eamonn Mulhall debuted at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in the world première of James MacMillan’s Clemency, directed by Katie Mitchell. Projects of the 2011-2012 season included a recording of Victor Herbert's operetta Eileen and concerts in Liverpool with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and at National Concert Hall in Dublin. Among his engagements in 2012-2013 were his debut at Scottish Opera with Clemency, a Christmas concert, J.S. Bach's St. John's Passion (BWV 245) and J. Haydn's The Creation in Dublin. He also recorded Jerome Kern's operetta Roberta for Chapter Productions. Performances of the 2013-2014 season include the title role in Ľubica Čekovská's new opera Dorian Gray in Bratislava, the world premiere of Metcalf’s Under Milk Wood in Cardiff, Damon in G.F. Handel’s Acis and Galatea with Mid Wales Opera and Jacob Schmidt in The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny in Dublin. 2014-2015 he will make his debut at the Wexford Festival in Mariotte's Salomé and as Ramiro in La Cenerentola. He will also return to Bratislava as Dorian Gray, a role he will also sing for his debut in Prague in 2015.
A frequent soloist in concert, Eamonn Mulhall has sung with many of the country's eminent choral societies. Highlights include Puccini’s Messa di Gloria with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Messiah at the Royal Albert Hall and concerts with the Irish Baroque Orchestra. His repertoire spans from J.S. Bach's s Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244), through Felix Mendelssohn’s Elijah to Benjamin Britten’s St. Nicholas.
A committed recitalist, Eamonn Mulhall has given song recitals in Wexford; St Martin-in-the-Fields, London; Scotland and Belgium. He has broadcast live on BBC Radio3 and RTÉ Lyric fm. |
