The Swiss mezzo-soprano, Lara Morger, began her musical training on the violin and bassoon before turning to singing. Since 2016 she has been studying singing with Professor Dorothea Wirtz at the Musikhochschule Freiburg, with a bachelor's degree in opera, concert and pedagogy in summer 2020. As part of the Internationalen Bachakademie Stuttgart 2019, she attended master-classes, among others. with Emma Kirkby, Peter Kooij and James Gilchrist. Further master-classes with Christiane Iven, Ulrike Hofbauer and Ton Koopman have expanded her musical education.
Today Lara Morger performs in Switzerland, Germany, Spain and France in opera productions as well as in concert and chamber music. In Freiburg, she made her debut as Diane in Arthur Honegger's Les Aventures du Roi Pausole and as Ruggiero in George Frideric Handel's Alcina. In 2019 she sang the role of Joacim in G.F. Handel's Susanna in the Naumburg's Dom with the Lautten Compagney Berlin under the baton of Wolfgang Katschner.

Bach can be heard in Barcelona and in October she will give several concerts in northern Germany as a member of the Europäischen Hanse-Ensemble under the direction of Manfred Cordes with Hanseatic ensemble music around 1600. Handel's Alessandro in a production with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie at the ETA Hoffmann Theater in Bamberg and sing oratorios in Meissen, Naumburg and Heidelberg.
Her special passion for early music led Lara Morger to co-found the Ensembles Tammurriata. With the ensemble she is looking for new ways of performing music from the Middle Ages to the Baroque in a historically informed manner, thereby bridging different cultures and their folk music to contemporary music. The ensemble has performed throughout Europe, for example in the summer of 2019 at the Innsbrucker Festwochen Alter Musik. She is also a member of Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz; since 2019). |
