The American pianist, Sayuri Miyamoto, studied with Donald Currier as an undergraduate at Yale and then attended Juilliard where she studied with Nadia Reisenberg and György Sándor. She subsequently received her doctorate from the Manhattan School of Music studying with Seymour Lipkin.
Sayuri Miyamoto teaches and performs with students and professional artists including members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, faculty at the New England Conservatory and Longy School of Music. She serves as a coach for the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras. She helped organize Japanese Children’s Story/Craft Hour for the World Holiday Series under the auspices of the Newton 2000 World Cultures Committee. She serves on the Community Prayer Breakfast Committee and is a volunteer at her daughter’s school and in Girl Scouts.
Sayuri Miyamoto and her husband, the oboist Joel Bard, are both active members of the musical community in Boston. With some friends they have been presenting chamber music concerts to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. More recently, they have been recording a companion CD each year with all proceeds going to the same cause. For 2008 both the concert and the CD featured the music of J.S. Bach. |
