The Scottish soprano, Emily Mitchell, was Born into a musical family and was submersed in music from an early age. She began her formal classically training at the RSAMD (now Royal Conservatoire of Scotland), where she gained a Bachelor in Music and a Masters in Music under the tutelage of Margaret Aronson. She continues her vocal study with soprano Jane Irwin. She is a Live Music Now! artist in the trio Sweet Harmony and also sings with a vocal quartet, the Scarlet Quartet.
Emily Mitchell has made frequent appearances across Europe at the Transeuropeanes Festival in Rouen, in Heilbronn, and in Hamburg. As a regular performer with the Dunedin Consort (Director: John Butt), she has performed in the Toroella de Montegri Festival, Versailles Handel Festival, in Antwerp and most recently in their performance of J.S. Bach's St John Passion (BWV 245) in Weimar, Germany as part of the Thüringer Bachwochen.

Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte for BYO workshops; Helena in Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Nights Dream and Countess Almaviva in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro for Ian Fleming Opera Scenes RSAMD.
Emily Mitchell has appeared with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in a concert performance of Francis Poulenc's Les Carmélites, and in Kurt Weil’s The Rise and Fall of Mahagony conducted by H.K.Gruber at the Usher Hall in the Edinburgh International Festival, and also for the Usher Hall 100th Birthday Celebration concert in Felix Mendelssohn's Hymn of Praise. Other concert performances include Elsa in Lohengrin with Edinburgh Chamber Orchestra; Melisande in Pelleas et Melisande with Meadows orchestra; Marzelline in L.v. Beethoven's Fidelio with Canongait Orchestra, and Berlioz' Les Nuit D'étés with Edinburgh Symphony Orchestra.
Emily Mitchell has been broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland in Mendelssohn Rediscovered, and BBC Radio 3 several times. She also appeared with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphony Chorus singing in the Scottish premiere of MacMillan’s St John Passion. She made her BBC Proms debut in August 2010 at the Royal Albert Hall with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Donald Runnicles in Ralph Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music. She currently lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. |
