Raffaella Milanesi (Soprano)

Born: Rome, Italy

The Italian soprano, Raffaella Milanesi, completed her studies in her hometown, Rome, at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in 1997.

Since then Raffaella Milanesi sang many different roles including: Ottavia in Monteverdi’s Incoronazione di Poppea, Cleopatra in George Frideric Handel’s Giulio Cesare, Euridice in Haydn’s L’anima del filosofo, Elettra in W.A. Mozart’s Idomeneo, Donna Anna in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Tamiri and Aminta in W.A. Mozart's Il Re Pastore, Servilia in W.A. Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito, Norina in Donizetti`s Don Pasquale and Musetta in Puccini`s La Bohème.

Raffaella Milanesi is a regular guest at the opera houses of Amsterdam, Antwerp, Bordeaux, Brussels, Lausanne, Luxembourg, Madrid, Montpellier, Paris, Salamanca, Toulouse, Vienna, as well as Festivals like Ambronay, Beaune, Eisenstadt, Innsbruck, Montpellier and Potsdam. She has worked with such distinguished conductors as: Marc Minkowski, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Ottavio Dantone, Giuliano Carella, Nicola Luisotti, Donato Renzetti, Adam Fischer, Alessandro de Marchi, Andrea Marcon, Enrique Mazzola, Hervé Niquet, Philippe Pierlot, Christophe Rousset and directors such as Christof Loy, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Robert Wilson, Daniele Abbado.

In these last three years: concerts of Haydn’s Berenice with Christoph Poppen and with Andreas Spering, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Sallustia in Jesi and Montpellier (recorde live on DVD), Clorinda in Rossini’s La Cenerentola at the Grand Theatre de Genève and at La Monnaie in Brussels (conducted by Marc Minkowski), Donna Anna in Don Giovanni in Montpellier, Sandrina in Haydn`s Infedelta delusa in Potsdam, Silvia in Haydn`s L'isola disabitata and Aristea in L'Olimpiade by G.B. Pergolesi with Alessandro de Marchi at the Innsbrucker Festwochen, Proserpina in Monteverdi`s L`Orfeo and Giunone in Il Ritorno di Ulisse in Patria at La Scala di Milano in a new production with Rinaldo Alessandrini and Robert Wilson, Zerlina in Don Giovanni at the Grand Theatre de Geneve, G.F. Handel's Messiah, Jan Dismas Zelenka's Missa Votiva, recitals and cantatas programs with Václav Luks and Collegium 1704 in Brugge , Prague Spring, Halle Festivals. Zidiana in Il Teuzzone by Antonio Vivaldi with Jordi Savall in Versailles; Orgonte in Terradellas Sesostri in Barcellona and La Coruna; some Recitals in Munich, Montpellier Festival Radio France, Schwetzingen, with Stefano Molardi and I Virtuosi delle Muse; Farnace by A. Vivaldi at TCE in Paris with Stefano Molardi; Argene in G.B. Pergolesi's Olimpiade at Teatro S.Carlo in Napoli; Guglielmo in San Guglielmo d'Aquitania by G.B. Pergolesi with Christophe Rousset; G.B. Pergolesi's Olimpiade at Torino Lingotto and Theater an der Wien. From last engagements: Bononcini Stabat Mater and Messa a cinque at Wien Konzerthaus; Lisaura in G.F. Handel's Alessandro at Handel Festival in Karlsruhe. A. Vivaldi's Gloria and Magnificat at TCE in Paris, with Rinaldo Alessandrini. La Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro at Opera de Rennes; Another time Lisaura in G.F. Handel's Alessandro in Karlsruhe; Megacle in Mislivececk's Olimpiade in Prague, Caen , Dijon and Luxembourg with Václav Luks and Ursel Hermann, Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare at Festval du Stand de Moutier Switzerland with Facundo Agudin.

Next engagements are: Annio in La Clemenza di Tito at Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice with Ottavio Dantone and Ursel Hermann, Dido in Dido and Eneas by Purcell in tour in Poissy and Germany with La Risonanza and Fabio Bonizzoni, Stellidaura in La Stellidaura Vendicante with Alessandro de Marchii in Potsdam.Some concerts in Prague Rudolfinum with Václav Luks and Collegium 1704, Megacle in Myslivecek''s Olimpiade at Theater an der Wien.
