The German baritone, church musician and music pedagogue, Torsten Meyer, studied school music, singing music education, opera singing and church music (A) at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover, as well as German studies at the Leibniz Universität Hannover. He received Scholarship from the Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft and the Richard-Wagner-Verbandes Hannover.
Torsten Meyer has lively concert activity with a wide-ranging repertoire from the Renaissance to contemporary modernism, including as Lieder and oratorio singer, organist and with various chamber music ensembles at home and abroad. Radio, TV and CD recordings, including with the Abegg-Trio. Since 1999 he has been Kantor and organist at the Nazarethkirche in Hannover, and from March 2004 also as Kreiskantor for the Hannover/Mitte district at the Pauluskirche. From 2002 to 2006, he directed a singing class at the Konservatorium der Fachhochschule Osnabrück.
In recognition of his extraordinary services to church music, Torsten Meyer was awarded the Kirchenmusikpreis 2002 from the Ev.-Luth. Stadtkirchenverband Hannover. Since the winter semester 2007-2008, he has been associated with the HMTMH through a teaching position in the subject of singing. The state capital of Hannover, represented by the district council of Südstadt/Bult, awarded him the Honorary Prize in 2008, which honors his special commitment to the common good. For the winter semester 2009-2010 winter semester, he accepted the call to the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg im Breisgau. as a full professor of singing / ensemble singing. |
