The American soprano, Amanda Menzie, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Texas at Austin, studying music and pre-medicine (2011-2015); and her her Master of Music degree in Voice and Opera Performance from the Northwestern University (2015-2017), under the tutelage of W. Stephen Smith. She also participated in the summer programs Spotlight on Opera in Austin, Taexas (2014) and Chicago Summer Opera (2016).
Amanda Menzie has recently begun her professional career in Houston. She has been heard in concert as the soprano soloist in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle with Houston Camerata (April 2018), Francis Poulenc’s Gloria (2017), Gabriel Fauré's Requiem (2016), John Rutter's Gloria (2013), Benjamin Britten’s Festival Te Deum (2012), and as a soloist with South Loop Symphony in Chicago. Additionally, she has appeared as Sister Constance in F. Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites (February 2017), Ruth in John Musto’s Later the Same Evening (November 2016), the Sandman in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, Mrs. Hayes in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah (May 2016), and Laurette in Georges Bizet’s Doctor Miracle. She, along with piano and clarinet, premiered the art song Solstice by Troy Armstrong in 2015. She is a member of Echo Ensemble Austin where she recently appeared as Almirena in a concert performance of George Frideric Handel's Rinaldo (April 2018). |
