The Dutch soprano, Heleen Meijer, discovered her love for singing in the student choir at Erasmus Universiteit during her economics studies. She has been studying with singing teacher Marjan Kuiper since 1998 and also took lessons and master-classes with Margreet Honig, Noelle Barker, Ton Koopman, Johannette Zomer and Evelyn Tubb.
Heleen Meijer performs as a soloist with choirs and oratorio associations, where she sings a varied repertoire: from early Baroque to 20th century music, includng to W.A. Mozart, Felix Mendelssohn, Gabriel Fauré, Verdi and John Rutter. She has sung various roles in small-scale opera productions and has worked regularly in the choir of the Nederlandse Reisopera over the past ten years. She was Papagena in a performance of W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte by Opera Studio Nederland and she has worked regularly in the choir of the National Touring Opera since 2005. Since 2013, she also sings in the Laurens Collegium Rotterdam (Director: Wiecher Mandemaker), the choir of the Nationale Opera in Amsterdam and the Groot Omroepkoor. She recently received a permanent position at the Groot Omroepkoor. |
