Dephine Mégret (Soprano)

Born: France

The French soprano, Delphine Mégret, received her Master of Music with distinction from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, where she studied with Marilyn Rees and with Gary Coward (2013-2017). She also received, during her years of studies, the invaluable guidance from teachers, singers and coaches such as Emma Kirkby, Sarah Walker, Edith Wiens, Jennifer Smith, Eugene Asti, David Gowland, Susanne Stranders, Robert Levin to mention only some. She won the Tracey Chadwell Memorial Award for her excellence at the Wigmore Hall new music recital in 2018 for the premiere of composer's Dimitrios Rontsis, Involutae Septempunctata.

Delphine Mégret has developed a strong interest in two very different repertoire such as baroque music, with a special interest for J.S. Bach and George Frideric Handel performance practice; and music from 20th century to today. She specially enjoy working on new music that allows a direct collaboration with the composer and writer that is one of the most exciting musical experience that one can have! Described as 'Flawless' in her last performance of W.A. Mozart's Requiem (ConcertoNet), she appeared last in London with the Ubu Ensemble at the Drawing Room. Her last operatic work was the main role Katie in the premiere of the Chamber Opera Years ago I died composed by Clare Elton with libretto by Edward Einhorn, at the specific site, Peckham Asylum Chapel in London (2018). She has been cast as Sophie in Werther (2017), Nedda in I Pagliacci (2018), Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier (2018) for various Opera Scenes and the role of Chocholka in The Cunning Little Vixen for an abridged production in London (May 2016). She has performed as Nedda for the exhibition 'Opera: Passion, Power and Politics' at the Victoria & Albert hall museum in 2018. She was also Despina in W.A. Mozart's Cosi fan tutte (2018) for the British Youth Opera Workshop led by Stuart Barker and Julia Lynch.

Delphine Mégret appeared regularly in concert platforms in Europe as soloist and as part of vocal ensembles. She performed at the Wigmore Hall, Barbican, Milton Court and in Music Festivals in France including Rocamadour and Sylvanès. In summer 2016, she toured in the south of France with the Ensemble Baroque de Toulouse directed by Michel Brun and performed the Requiem Mass and the Missa Brevis KV 140 by W.A. Mozart.

Through various performances Delphine Mégret had the opportunity to work with conductor Andrea Marcon, Eamonn Dougan, Pavlo Beznosiuk and Michel Piquemal.
