The Canadian counter-tenor, Ryan McDonald has been involved in the Newfoundland local music community for years and continues to be an active member to this day. Besides his vocal studies, he has also trained in violin, trombone, percussion and tuba.
Ryan McDonald`s recent performances include Cobweb in Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Nights Dream with Opera on the Avalon, Spirit in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, and the alto soloist in Bertali/ Dolar's Salve Regina with Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra. He has been seen in concert with the Theatre of Early Music (Director: Daniel Taylor), Schola Cantorum, Toronto (Director: Daniel Taylor) and MacMillan Singers performing repertoire spanning from the medieval period to newly composed works. His upcoming performances include First Witch in Purcell`s Dido and Aeneas with the Schola Cantorum, Toronto/Theatre of Early Music.
In addition to his singing, Ryan McDonald also plays the Bohdran and has studied with Dr. Robert Power for many years as well as playing the tuba in a brass quintet. He currently lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. |
