Johannes Mayer (Tenor)

Born: August 15, 1988 - Lüneburg, Lower Saxony, Germany

Thew German tenor, Johannes Meyer, studied from 2009 to 2013 music education with a major in oboe with Peter Schröderl from 2011, majoring in singing with Professor Meyer-Ravenstein at the HfMDK Frankfurt. Since the winter semester 2013 he studied there for Bachelor degree in singing also with Professor Meyer-Ravenstein.

In 2012 Johannes Mayer was member of the ensemble Ordo Virtutum, under the direction of Profesor Stefan Morent, which performs mainly the music of the 9th-11th centuries. Concerts with this ensdemble have taken him to Montalbane Festival in Freyburg, and the Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht. Since 2013 he is singing with the Schola Heidelberg, an ensemble specializing in contemporary music, under the direction of Walter Nussbaum. With the Schola Heidelberg he participated, among others, in two performances of Luigi Nono's famous work Prometeo in Amsterdam and Zürich.

In summer of 2014 Johannes Mayer performed at the Burgfestspielen in Bad Vilbel the role of Pedrillo in W.A. Mozart's Entführung aus dem Serail (children's opera). Furthermore, he has performed the solo parts in Masses by Haydn, W.A. Mozart and Schubert, oratorios and cantatas by J.S. Bach, Graun, George Frideric Handel, Josef Rheinberger, Gottfried August Homilius and Camille Saint-Saëns, and in Carl Orff's Carmina Burana and has been heard in Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Freudenstadt, Villingen, Freiburg, Kirchheim u.T., Stuttgart and Maulbronn.
