The Swiss choral conductor, Lisa May-Appenzeller, grew up in a family of musicians and took part in numerous choir and orchestral projects during her school days; so in the Schweizer Jugendchor (2011-2015) as soprano section leader. She studied singing and opera at Hochschule Luzern. In the summer of 2013 she completed her master's degree in choral conducting at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste with Kantor diploma (2008-2013). She intensified her conducting studies with master-classes in Utrecht Kurt Thomas Course, in Uppsala at the International Choral Conducting Masterclass and in New Haven at the Yale University. She was lucky enough to sit in with renowned conductors and to be tutored by them: in England with Simon Halsey, in Germany with Colin Matters, and in Sweden with Anders Eby and Stefan Parkman.
Since completing her studies, Lisa May-Appenzeller has worked as a singer and director of various ensembles. She directs the Jungen Chor Zürich, the Interkantonale Chöre project and, since April 2018, the Messias-Chor Zürich. There are also annual projects with professional singers and smaller ensembles. |
