The German choral conductor and organist, Michael Matthiass, had after graduation civil service in "Lehr- und Wanderjahren". He then studied 5 years church music at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg. His teachers were Hanne-Lotte Pardall (choral conducting), Gerhard Dickel and Burkhard Meyer-Janson (organ).
Besides his studies, Michael Matthiass served as Kantor and organist at the Martin-Luther-King-Kirche in Steilshoop. In the summer of 1995 he passed the exam as a church musician and in the autumn of 1995 became Kantor and organist at the Martin-Luther-Kirchengemeinde Iserbrook. Here he led next to the service the Bläserchor and the Jugendchor. From 1996, in parallel to his work, he completed two-year professional graduate degree in culture management.
After further teaching and travelling, Michael Matthiass worked since the summer of 1999 as a full creative in an advertising agency in Hamburg. Since 2000, due to the growing demands in his job as a church musician, he gradually reduced his other work, and since the beginning of 2002 he operates as a church musician and directs the Kantorei Iserbrook in full capacity.
Michael Matthiass is married and has 2 children. |
