The Swiss guitarist, Deborah Mariotti, showed an aptitude for music at an early age, and she was only 4 years old when her father Luigi Mariotti, himself a professional guitarist and an able teacher, gave her first contact with the instrument by building a special small guitar for her. From her childhood, then, Deborah developed a great love of music in general, always under her father's careful guidance, and enthusiasm for the technical mastery of the guitar in particular. In 1979 she continued her studies at the Academy 'Estudio de Arte Guitarristico' in Mexico City under the direction of Manuel Lopez Ramos, and she was awarded the soloist's diploma there.
In 1978 Deborah Mariotti had already won 1st Prize in her category at the Concours des Jeunesses Musicales Suisses. She was one of the finalists at the international competition Guitar 81 in Toronto in 1981. In addition to frequent radio and television recordings, the talented guitarist, who has built up an extensive repertoire, has appeared in concerts and recitals in Switzerland, Italy, England, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, the USA, Mexico and Canada. |
