The Marienkantorei Osnabrück was founded in 1948 by Paul-Erich Ewert, and directed the choir (KMD) from 1948 to 1955 first years after World War II. KMD Traugott Timme and KMD Wiltrud Fuchs Traugott were the successive directors of the Marienkantorei Osnabrück. In February 2006, Carsten Zündorf became the director.
Besides the central preoccupation with the works of J.S. Bach, the Marienkantorei Osnabrück is also interested in performing contemporary choral music. So in 2005 the choir performed the peace-oratorio Wie Tau auf den Bergen Zions by Violeta Dinescu under the baton of Wiltrud Fuchs on the Protestant Church Day.
Marienkantorei Osnabrück also sings a-cappella works with an emphasis on the romantic literature and participates regularly in worship at St. Marien. The choir currently consists of about 100 young singers. |
