The Ensemble Vocal Magadis (= EVM) is a mixed amateur choir of approximately forty people. Four sections are represented, a dozen people per section: sopranos, altos in women, tenors and basses in men. The choir is currently directed by the professional choral conductor - Viviana Azar.
Currently, soloists are from the choir, enabling good homogeneity in the interpretation of works, both with piano, orchestra or "a cappella". The best voices of the choir have the opportunity to perform as soloists in concerts. In the interpretation of certain works, the EVM also uses professional musicians: piano and orchestra.
The Chœur de Chambre Mélisma, founded in 2000 is a chamber choir composed of singers belonging to the EVM.
The EVM prepares two programs per season: a program "Noël" (Christmas) from September to December and a program "Printemps" (spring) from January to June alternating classical, traditional songs and songs of the world. The recruitment of new singers is, on audition, when the cprogram changes. The rehearsals take place at Centre d'Activités Sportives et Culturelles (CASC) du Ministère des Finances et de l'Industrie. The EVM organizes once a year a vocal technique training or a theme training in relation to works added to the repertoire. The EVM also provides to its members music theory classes and musical analysis. |
