The American mezzo-soprano, Miranda Loud, began developing her technique and abilities as a mezzo-soprano in 2001. Prior to 2001 she had performed extensively as an organist and harpsichordist and choral conductor. Although an avid specialist in music of the Baroque period, she is an equally enthusiastic advocate of the works of later periods.
Miranda Loud is recognized as a versatile, imaginative, and elegant musician. She is steadily gaining a reputation for her sensitive and beautiful mezzo-soprano timbre and her powerful stage presence. She recently recorded her first CD as alto soloist in J.S. Bach’s Four Lutheran Masses (BWV 233-236) in October 2004 with The Publick Musick in Rochester, NY (due out on the musica omnia label in March 2006) and in 2005-2006 season made her first appearance with the Vox Consort under conductor Ed Elwyn Jones, for which she received critical acclaim in the Boston Globe for “achieving maximum poignancy.” She has recently sung the alto solos for the complete Messiah with the Fine Arts Chorale.
She has appeared as a soloist with several groups in Boston and Providence, RI and was recently awarded an “artist-in-residence” grant at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada in January 2006 to work on vocal repertoire and her next large-scale multi-media concert, “Matins - Reconnecting to Nature.” |
