The Swiss conductor, Theo Loosli, studied violin at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome (Solo Diploma) and composition and management at the Musik-Akademie Basel. He attained a doctorate besides in German literature at the Neuenburg University.

Theo Loosli's vocational activity is located completely in the indication of the promotion of still unknown talents. One can almost call him "musical birth aid". Thus was always accompanied numerous young musicians, who stood at the beginning of their career, with his orchestras, and brought to the premiere over 200 contemporary compositions. The historian and writer, Jean Jacques Clémençon, says about Theo Loosli and his educational working: "his educational working was coherent and very effective, because it bases on the loyalty opposite itself: Does everything, in order to become, what one is."

In the center of Theo Loosli's interest were located the sound on the one hand and connections between literature, forming art and music on the other hand the. With his "instruments", which he founded – the Berner Bach-Chor, the Orchestre Symphonique Neuchâtelois, the Sinfonietta and the Berner Konzertchor - he also worked constantly to bring out and develop further his pronounced sound conceptions. His save-spreading cultural interest brought him to be concerned apart from the choir and orchestra literature also with the synthesis of the arts and opera.

Theo Loosli's work encountered and pushed far around acknowledgement. Composers such as René Gerber, Jean Daetwyler and Jean Philippe Baumeister have dedicated one of their works to him. Bertram Roulet dedicated his Wahnfried Sinfonie to him. Great artists such as Maurice André, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Frank Martin, Bruno Giuranna, Uto Ughi, etc. have testified him, how highly they estimate his work as a conductor, a work, coined/shaped are in writing among other things by the constant tendency around a good agreement with all at a performance a musician taken part and musicians.
