The American tenor, Alex Longnecker, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Iowa State University; and his Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of North Texas. He is also a recent graduate of the Voxtet program at Yale University’s Institute of Sacred Music (2019-2021).
Celebrated for his “handsome, potent tenor and vivid, expressive delivery” (Dallas Morning News), tenor Alex Longnecker is a versatile singer spanning several genres from opera, early music, and musical theatre, to ensemble singing and commercial music. He currently works as a staff tenor with the Saint Thomas Choir of Men & Boy Fifth Avenue in New York City (since October 2021). In addition to regular concerts and services at St. Thomas, his 2022 season includes performances with ensembles The New Consort, Collectio Musicorum, Gallicantus, New Muses Project, and the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus, as well as a role debut with American Baroque Opera Company in Dallas, Texas, as Acis in George Frideric Handel’s Acis and Galatea. Recent solo appearances include performances at Lincoln Center with Yale Schola Cantorum and Juilliard415, Opera in the Rock, Dallas Bach Society, Verdigris Ensemble, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, and the Tanglewood Music Center. |
