The Korean coloratura soprano, Sojung Lim (Sojeong Im; Korean: 임소정), graduated from the Department of Vocal Music at Seoul National University (2014-2018); obtained her Master's degree in Vocal Music and her Master's degree in Early Music Singing from Trossingen National University of Music, Germany, graduated with highest marks; graduated from Austria Salzburg Mozarteum National University of Music Baroque Vocal Music Best Performer Course; graduated from the Highest Vocal Performance Course in Early Music at the Royal Academy of Music in The Hague, Netherlands. She participated Britten-Pears Young Artist Program soloist performance (conducted by Philippe Herreweghe). She obtained her Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from Peabody Conservatory (Class of 2021), as student in the studio of Carl DuPont; her Graduate Performance Diploma in Voice Performance from Johns Hopkins University (Class of 2022). She currently studies for her Doctoral of Music Arts in Vocal Performance at UNT College of Music (since August 2022).
Sojung Lim has performed as a soloist and/or ensemble member with Salzburger Bachgesellschaft, Fraumünster-Chor Zürich, Europäische Hanse-Ensemble Lübeck, Hildebrandt Consort and many other ensembles, such works as J.S. Bach's Passions, Cantatas, Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248 and Renaissance and Baroque music performance activities. She appeared as a soloist in the 23rd and 24th Chuncheon International High Music Festival. She could be seen as Knabe 1 in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with Seoul National University opera. She made her Peabody debut in An Evening of Opera Scenes in October 2019 and performed Kaija Saariaho's opera Emilie there with talented colleagues in February 2020. In December 2021, she sang J.S. Bach's Cantatas with Collegium Vocale Seoul.
Currently Sojung Lim teaches at Seonhwa Arts Middle School, Seonhwa Arts High School class. |
