The Dutch contralto/mezzo soprano, Dorien Lievers, began her professional music studies at the organ bench. She graduated in 1992 at the Arnhems Conservatorium, the main subject organ. After this she studied singing at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag (Royal Conservatory in The Hague), where she also took lessons in interpretation with Meinard Kraak and attended on several master-classes. At present she is coached by Lida Dekkers.
Dorien Lievers performs regularly as a soloist, collaborating with professional orchestras and ensembles such as Concerto d'Amsterdam, La Sfera Armoniosa, Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam and the Nederlandse Bachvereniging. She could be heard in several J.S. Bach's cantatas, his Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248), Monteverdi's Vespers, Stabat Mater by Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah.
Dorien Lievers also sings in ensembles such as Cappella Amsterdam, Collegium Vocale Gent and Amsterdam Baroque Choir, with famous conductors such as Daniel Reuss, Philippe Herreweghe, Ton Koopman, Reinbert de Leeuw and Frans Brüggen, both at home and abroad. She also worked on several CD recordings. For some time she sings regularly in the Nederlands Kamerkoor. |
