The Canadian baritone, Jonathan A. Liebich, completed his studies at the Vancouver Academy of Music under DavidMeek and at University of British Columbia (UBC) under Gary Relyea.
Jonathan Liebich is now one of the busiest young artists on the West Coast. As an oratorio and concert soloist he has performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles throughout British Columbia including the Symphony Orchestras of the Okanagan and Abbotsford and the Vancouver Bach Choir. Recent engagements include George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Creation and Lord Nelson Mass, L.v. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Missa Solemnis and J.S. Bach's St. John Passion (BWV 245). He also appears in recitals togetherr with his wife, soprano Alexandra Tait Liebich.
Last season Jonathan Liebich performed the role of the Speaker in Vancouver Opera's production of Die Zauberflöte. He is an alumnus of the Vancouver Opera Chorus and of the Vancouver Opera Touring Ensemble, with whom he performed the roles of Papageno and Sarastro. Other opera roles include Mozart's Figaro, the Father of Hansel & Gretel and Herr Fluth from Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor. His upcoming engagements include an Elijah and the role of El Dancairo in Vancouver Opera's production of Carmen. |
